Την Πέμπτη 6 Μαρτίου, στις 19:15, θα πραγματοποιηθεί στον κινηματογράφο Ολύμπιον η έναρξη του 27ου Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Ντοκιμαντέρ Θεσσαλονίκης με την ταινία «Σχετικά Με Έναν Ήρωα». Ο Πιοτρ Βίνιεβιτς μεταφέρει στην μεγάλη οθόνη ένα πρωτοποριακό σενάριο γραμμένο από μηχανή Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης που εκπαιδεύτηκε & μελέτησε το έργο του σπουδαίου Βέρνερ Χέρτσογκ.
On Thursday March 6th, at 7.15pm, the film About a Hero by Piotr Winiewicz will signal the official opening of the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival. The Festival will call it a wrap on Sunday March 16th, with Shoshannah Stern’s Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore that unravels the story of Marlee Matlin, the first ever deaf recipient of an Academy Award for acting.
The fascinating documentary The Last Republican directed by Steve Pink unveils the struggle given by popular former Republican politician Adam Kinzinger to bring Donald Trump before justice, following the Capitol attack in January 2021, which marked one of the darkest pages in US political history. The film will be screened as part of the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, held from March 6th to March 16th, 2025.
The 30 documentaries taking part in the three competition sections – including 9 Greek productions – touch upon burning and up-to-the-minute issues, cope with transgenerational traumas, envision the emancipation from every form of oppression, contemplate on humanity’s future, map our relation with the environment and stand up against all discrimination and prejudice.
The 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (March 6-16, 2025) invites us to embark on a unique cinematic journey in the Greek countryside through documentaries of renowned filmmakers, most of them rare and off the radar. On the occasion of the recent discovery of the documentary Kastoria (1969) directed by Takis Kanellopoulos, a film considered lost up until now, the tribute titled Geography of the Gaze: Off-Plan Greece (1950-2000) lines up 19 documentary films that compose a multifaceted and illuminating portrait of the social, political and cultural life of Greece in the second half of the 20th century.
Vibrant and fascinating, unraveling heart-wrenching human stories and burning up-to-the-minute issues, the Greek documentaries take center stage at the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, which will take place from March 6 to March 16, 2025, both in physical spaces and online. A total of 71 full-length and short documentaries from Greece will be screened in the three competition sections, International Competition, Newcomers and >>Film Forward, as well as in the Open Horizons, Platform+ and Special Screenings sections.
Το 27ο Φεστιβάλ Ντοκιμαντέρ Θεσσαλονίκης διεξάγετε από την Πέμπτη 6 έως την Κυριακή 16 Μαρτίου, τόσο σε φυσικούς χώρους όσο και online. Στο 27ο ΦΝΘ θα προβληθούν 261 ντοκιμαντέρ μικρού και μεγάλου μήκους, ανάμεσα στα οποία και 72 παγκόσμιες, 40 διεθνείς και 11 ευρωπαϊκές πρεμιέρες.
Προσωπικές ιστορίες, συγκινητικά οδοιπορικά, γεγονότα που σημάδεψαν την σύγχρονη Ελλάδα, τρυφερά πορτρέτα από χαρισματικές προσωπικότητες που έγραψαν τη δική τους ιστορία στην τέχνη, ιστορίες γυναικείας χειραφέτησης και ενδυνάμωσης, η μοναξιά της αστικής μητρόπολης, τοπόσημα που έχουν λάβει μυθολογικές διαστάσεις, αλλά και οι πολύπλοκες διακλαδώσεις της ιστορικής και συλλογικής μνήμης, είναι ορισμένες από τις θεματικές που βρέθηκαν στο επίκεντρο των ελληνικών ντοκιμαντέρ αυτή τη χρονιά.
Επίκαιρο και αφυπνιστικό, το έργο της σπουδαίας σκηνοθέτιδος και φωτογράφου Λόρεν Γκρίνφιλντ κριτικάρει την τοξική πλευρά του υπερκαταναλωτισμού και σχολιάζει την παρακμή μιας νεόπλουτης τάξης που ξοδεύεται σε εφήμερες απολαύσεις. Το 27ο Φ.Ν.Θ. πραγματοποιεί αφιέρωμα στο έργο της Αμερικανίδας δημιουργού, ενώ θα την υποδεχθεί στη Θεσσαλονίκη και ως μέλος της κριτικής επιτροπής του Διεθνούς Διαγωνιστικού τμήματος.
Στις ταινίες του, ο Νικολά Φιλιμπέρ εκφράζει μια σειρά από επίκαιρους και θεμελιώδεις κοινωνικούς προβληματισμούς, επιδεικνύοντας αφοσίωση, σεβασμό και ευαισθησία απέναντι στο εκάστοτε θέμα του. Ο ίδιος σημειώνει: «Με συναρπάζει πρωτίστως ο εύθραυστος χαρακτήρας του απρόβλεπτου και όχι η άνεση της βεβαιότητας. Η αθέατη πλευρά είναι εκείνη που έχει ενδιαφέρον».
