The new film of the acclaimed and beloved American film director Jim Jarmusch, Father Mother Sister Brother, Golden Lion winner at the recent Venice International Film Festival, will signal the curtain rise for the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival on October 30th, at the Olympion movie theater.

The 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF66: 30/10 – 09/11/2025) will bestow an honorary Golden Alexander to the renowned filmmaker Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, one of Greece’s most beloved film directors who has many huge hits under his belt, for his overall contribution to the art of cinema. The 66th TIFF will host a large-scale tribute to his work, featuring his entire full-length filmography. Moreover, the audience will have the chance to attend a fascinating masterclass, where Yorgos Tsemberopoulos will unveil and share the secrets of his art.
The 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival is hosting a deeply political tribute titled Fragilities, focusing on the limitations that demarcate the fragile human nature. The tribute is part of the renewed and extended Survey Expanded section of the Meet the Neighbors+ competition section, which includes films from the wider neighborhood of Greece.

Πρόκειται για ένα από τα πιο σπουδαία ευρήματα στην ιστορία της αφήγησης και βεβαίως του κινηματογράφου, που μας έχει χαρίσει μερικά από τα διασημότερα καλλιτεχνικά έργα. Με τίτλο «Plot Twist, Beyond Sixth Sense», το αφιέρωμα προσπερνά τις προφανείς και διάσημες κινηματογραφικές ανατροπές, επιλέγοντας σπάνιες και λιγότερο προβεβλημένες ταινίες που έχουν γυριστεί από το 1976 έως το 2025.
The 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival explores the countless versions of a unique and unparalleled acting talent, welcoming Isabelle Huppert, one of the radiant, daring and multi-awarded stars of world cinema and theater. The Festival, alongside Isabelle Huppert, has selected a total of 15 films that display her outstanding ability for inner transformation for the sake of every role, while maintaining a solid acting identity. The selection of films, directed by beloved filmmakers, spans over different periods and countries.
Το 66ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Θεσσαλονίκης θα απονείμει τιμητικό Χρυσό Αλέξανδρο για το σύνολο της προσφοράς του στο Σινεμά στον σπουδαίο δημιουργό Γιώργο Τσεμπερόπουλο. Παράλληλα θα διοργανώσει μεγάλο αφιέρωμα στο έργο του, στο πλαίσιο του οποίου θα προβληθούν όλες οι μεγάλου μήκους ταινίες του. Επίσης, θα έχουμε την ευκαιρία να τον απολαύσουμε σε ένα masterclass, στη διάρκεια του οποίου θα μοιραστεί με το κοινό τα μυστικά της τέχνης του.
This year’s Festival hosts a tribute on the technique of plot twist, adopting a subversive approach on this valuable narrative tool. The tribute titled Plot Twist, Beyond Sixth Sense goes beyond the most popular and manifest plot twists found in cinema, casting a glance on rare and lesser known films, shot over the last fifty years, from 1976 to 2025.
The posters of the 66th International Film Festival bear the signature of the acclaimed Greek visual artist Stefanos Rokos, who created two original works for the Festival’s poster. These works also inspired the 66th TIFF’s spots, two short animation films, directed by Stefanos Rokos and film director and animator Fokion Xenos, and scored by Jim Sclavunos, frequent collaborator of legendary music artists such as Nick Cave, Grinderman, Sonic Youth, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks (with Lydia Lunch) and The Cramps among others, as well as a permanent member of the Bad Seeds since 1994.
Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Θεσσαλονίκης αποκάλυψε τις αφίσες της 66ης διοργάνωσης, τις οποίες υπογράφει ο καταξιωμένος εικαστικός Στέφανος Ρόκος, που δημιούργησε δύο πρωτότυπα ζωγραφικά έργα, τα οποία ενέπνευσαν και τα σποτ του 66ου ΦΚΘ. Πρόκειται για δύο μικρού μήκους animation ταινίες που δημιούργησαν ο Στέφανος Ρόκος μαζί με τον σκηνοθέτη και δημιουργό animation Φωκίωνα Ξένο, σε μουσική του Τζιμ Σκλαβούνος.
